Dating a Plumb axe

I picked up a Plumb axe for a presumably great price at an antique shop over the weekend. Head is in great shape, razor sharp. Could use a new handle, but it doesn't need one right away. Only markings I can see on the head are

Plumb.

I am hoping more than anything else that this is American made. Any way to date it? Info? I have a cell phone pic of the head I can email, if anyone can post it, I would appreciate it. I can email the photo.

If it's stamped plumb 3.2, I am sure its USA made.

My wonderful wife bought me an old hatchet at a yard sale for like 3 bucks. it is an old claw type nail pullet hatchet. an the marking says plumb, but it is cursive with an old time plumb line tool in it. How old is that marking?

I was told over the weekend that it is commonly referred to as a Plumb axe.
