I have come into a mine of old axe heads and this is one of my first to ask about. Most are late 19th century but this one seems newer. I want to get a date before I post it on fleabay.

Craftsman used that font from the mid 30's to present day. A local museum has a collection of Sears Roebuck catalogs dating back to 1916 and allowed me to view them. The dash line before and after the words came out later - I think around 1950.

It's a Broad head axe it was used to strip bark from trees and make railroad ties in the day. Very good company at the time!

Well there isn't a big use for them anymore the only way to sell is a collector or a woodsman keen kutter also sells nice ones.

The older, the better really. You'll find lots of vintage boys axes from American companies like Kelly, Collins, Plumb etc. as well as ones from foreign companies like Hults Bruk, Gransfors Bruk, Sandvik, etc. The "Best" axe is based off your personal preference in shape, style, and weight.

Don't date an axe. They don't talk much, and they just sit there, always wanting to be held and put to work. Lots of personality but lame at times HAHA

Correct! I can no more date an axe than figure (from that attempt at humour) that you are probably a youngster.

Nope, full grown handsome man here but thanks, I try to be young at heart. Nice axe you got there
