Dating Benchmade Knives

How can I tell when a particular Benchmade was made? I see a series of numbers on the box but nothing that looks like a date.

Not entirely sure all the ones I've gotten had them on it

The oldest box I have with a production date is from October 2017. I don't know exactly when Benchmade started adding these dates or if it was universal through all models. Maybe try reaching out to Benchmade with more specifics about your knife to see if they can help you nail down a date range?

I have sent Benchmade a photo of my label this morning - waiting for a response.

they started putting dates on the boxes around 2016 or ‘17. not really certain exactly when but i believe it was to make tracking qc issues easier

Well Benchmade got back to me in 4 days - not bad, but not much help.

“Good afternoon,

Unfortunately that label doesn't tell me when your knife was manufactured. We created them between 2011 and 2020 though. I know that doesn't help much and I'm very sorry about that. Our newer labels tell the date of manufacture.
