Hey y'all, I'm looking for some help from the many knowledgeable folks here. This is the first knife my dad gave me. I've somehow managed to keep it all these years. I've had it 30+ years & my dad said he's had it a few years before that. I'm just curious to see if I can find an approximate manufacture date for it (or any other info on it).
It's a Frost Cutlery "Bullet", about 2 5/8 inch closed. The blade etch is deep (can catch a nail on it) & appears to have some kind of bone scales. No half stop and no blade wobble after all these years of use, still snaps good opening and closing. Thanks in advance for any help y'all can give. I can't tell you much, xcept i have a few older Frost knives that were made in Japan like yours. They seem to be very good quality, and i kinda keep an eye out for them at yard sales, Flea markets, etc if they are decent shape and about $10 or less. The newer ones that are made in China, not sure...i pass on them. Nice knife, thanks for sharing pics.

Thanks! I was thinking it may have been made in Japan. I'm not sure though, I've been having a hard time finding out much info about this one. It does seem to be pretty good quality. It's cut a lot of stuff over the years & without getting loose or loosing its snappines. Not to mention surviving my childhood if that means anything 🤣

This is going to be a 1980's knife, but there's not much way to narrow it down unless somebody happens to have old catalog scans or something.
I know some old frost cutlery knives have at least a little bit of a following, but this particular knife is pretty normal/ ordinary.

Thanks. Yeah I know it's just an ordinary knife, just curious for any info. The 1980's would make sense 👍

"Just ordinary"... to us, but sounds special to you. The first knife your Dad gave to you might make it priceless in your eyes. I have my Gramps Buck 110, spent many summers in the garden as a kid with him and that knife. It's beat up and not worth anything to anybody but me. So i get it.... Oh..and that 110 is still a great garden knife, it's sharpened, and ready to go for Spring..:)

Oh, most definitely on the sentimental value.
That's awesome you still have your grandfathers old Buck along with some good memories & yes, spring is right around the corner 😉

Looks like a nice knife, I really like the blade stamp, wish more knives had em.
