Dating on Stickers is gone?

I just got a Manix 2. I noticed that the stickers on the box no longer have the date of manufacture. Is there a new way to find out when a Spyderco was made?

That is weird, all my latest Spydercos, including Manix 2s, have date codes on the sticker. Could you post pictures?

Haven't gotten any this week, but every one that I've received lately has the same type two letter date code Spyderco has been using since around 2003. Might be they've dropped the dates, might be a glitch in the label printing software, might be they've switched to a new and more subtle coding. A picture of the label would definitely help.

Got a Manix2 via CutleryShoppe, and it has a alpha-code of JI. What's that break out to?

Could be an " II ", so basically just two small lines in the font used on the boxes, that one could easily not identify as two i's. 09/2009 would be the date then, just like on my Spyderhawk:

Bet you nailed it Dennis, that sounds like the most plausible explanation yet.

Dating "codes"? I guess I go back a long way(10+ years) with Spyderco purchases. They used to have the actual dates printed on the stickers.

Cool, I never new about the date codes on boxes before. Turnes out the Manix 2 I got for my birthday in july was made only one month before. Kind of cool thing to find out.

IIRC, some dealers objected to the open dating, citing customer reluctance to purchase, or at least to pay full price for, "last year's model". The date codes were Spyderco's solution. They are less obvious, as your inquiry proved, ;):D but still allow dealers to rotate their stock.
