Ah, Christmas time . . . what better day to give your daughter her first pocket knife? :)

After years of watching me browse Bladeforums and various knife websites and being dragged along to knifeshows, she naturally wanted one of her own.

This morning she received the purple SAK that she always wanted! After showing her how to open & close it without being "bitten", and giving instructions on how to keep it clean and dry, I showed her how to use it to open her next Christmas present.

And then I opened up my own present :D --a Marble's caper with jigged bone scales! Nice QC on this one--wicked sharp, and the grind lines are all straight.

Merry Christmas, all!

That is what our daughter got for here 1st knife, a SAK. now she has 5 I believe. Good 1st knife. Paul

Ahhh, good one. I got my little sister her first knife for her birthday last September. Also a SAK Classic.

And, I'll just bet she looked kinda like this when she opened up the present.

:)

Talk about a million dollar smile! :)

How old are these little ladies? I've got a two-year old daughter and I want to get her a pocketknife someday. I'm thinking I will have to wait until she's sixteen or so. I know she can probably handle one as young as eight or so, but with today's political climate run by sheeple, I figure that would just be inviting trouble. Besides, kids spend most of their time in schools and they don't even allow a butterknife! What are some of your experiences?

You got it, Danbo! She had been waiting for a knife for a while now!

Danbo's pic is one of my wife and daughter at the Chicago knife show. I can't remember what initiated the giggle sequence (maybe Danbo promised her a Massey bowie from his collection? :p )

She is 7 years old.

The first knife I gave to my oldest Daughter (11th b-day) was a sak huntsman with ruby translucent handles and her name engraved in the handle.

I also gave my daughter a SAK Classic on her 5:th birthday. She played with it a lot for about a week.

Haven't seen the knife since. She's almost 16 now and every time I ask about the knife, she says it is in her drawer at home (me and her mother are divorced). I suspect she's lost it. Shame, kind of liked it myself...

Way to go brother, start em off when there young. My son Joshua, 5yrs old, expects it anymore. He's like, "what kind of knife did you get for me this time Dad". I love it I tell ya.

Hey Patrick:

Next year, give him a box with a SAK Tinker in it and tell him to use it to open his real present, and then have a CUDA MAXX in another box :D

That sounds like a great idea. He'd prolly think the maxx was a sword. It'd take two of his little hands to hold the beast.Ha Ha.
