Under the category "Must Have Raised Her Right" my daughter called me last night to meet her at Sportsman's Warehouse so she could show me what she wanted for Graduation. Since I am inept at gift selection I of course went. Her choice for Graduation present? A Mossberg 500 Bantam in 20ga with a matching G10 Leek and Surefire E2 Defender. Her idea was since she will be living away from home she wanted to be able to protect herself at home (Mossberg) and while running around at night(Leek/Defender). I'm happy that she went that route instead of something that would be useless in a semester and forgotten. She was in an accesorizing mood for the shotgun and couldn't quite decide between the G10 Leek and an S30V Blur. The Leek won as she liked the G10 over the Trac. Thought the Kershaw crew would appreciate that.

Congratulations Mike! Ya done good! It's good to see she is concerned about her situational awareness. All 3 are great items if used properly. I would suggest adding another gift: a simple training course in how/when/where to use that Mossberg!

Nicely done, Mike:thumbup: My girls love to fawn over my collection of knives.....but of course they're only 7 and 4 right now. I'll have to see if the interest lasts through puberty before I go gettin' all proud and whatnot:D:D

Hope she enjoys her new toys.

Congratulations on your daughter's graduation and on her choice of rewards. Just got back from my eldest daughter's wedding. She had already claimed all of my kitchen knives and I was pleased to see that she had invested in a quality diamond sharpener to maintain them. Nice to know I got some things right too

Thanks for the kind words folks. She has not graduated yet Antonio but it will happen in a couple of months. Congratulations on your daughters wedding. I hope she will be very happy. I fully agree with the training part. I was a firearms instructor for both the US Border Patrol and the US Marshals for some time as a collateral duty so I will go over the basics. Anyone know of a good training facility in Central Texas for a final polish? Not right now Untamed. No Offense. I want her to get an education and be able to support herself before I get a son-in-law. (People in Hell want a tempurature change and ice water too but it's what I've been telling her for a long time.) As for pictures when she graduates and gets the gear i'll post some.

Good job dad! Y'all know how to raise 'em right in Texas. BTW, will the Defender work in a light mount on the Mossberg?

Here's a cute Mossberg 500 Super Bantam if she likes pink. Not quite up there with the "Hello Kitty" AK, though.

Wow Mike and I was off that day, I wish I would have worked Monday, was it Jimmy that sold her the knife and light?

Thanks anyway PG but she passed a rainbow Leek and some different colored Leeks and went right for the G10. Bless her heart she's more the Laura Croft type girl when it comes to weaponry. Good question about the light mount though. Hmm. bitter will it work or am I gonna have to buy two lights?

Just pulling your leg on the pink Mossberg. That'd be more for the gals from Cali.

Surefire has some pricey forend replacements for the Mossberg. A 6P LED would open up all kinds of options (Malkoff drop-ins and remote switches) with a simple shotgun mount, that an E2L Defender doesn't.

You've probably got a much more practical take on this with your experience than I do. Just throwing in my 2-cents.

Not at all. I've been gone quite a while now and haven't stayed current on all the Tac Gear. I know how to operate a shotgun for repelling misfits but the new light mounts are like computers..changing faster than I can keep up with. I liked the defender for "yawara" style non-lethal defense and the Leek for..well cutting things...like wrapping paper and such.

There is so much new cool stuff these days, its hard to keep up. Congrats, again on raising a great kid.
