Dave:

What's the law about long knives like khuks in CA, especially for a US citizen bringing one into CA in a briefcase or suitcase?

Thanks,

Noah

Auto.

I'll be visiting a client in Canada soon and would like to show him one of the khuks that I bought. We have a mutual interest in them.

Sorry if you meant CANADA.

Noah,

I believe Dave lives in Canada.

No problem with khuks, swords, or other long knives in CA. State law does not have a length limitation. However, beware that the Communists in some municipalities and schools have laws limiting length and other features that are only obeyed by the law abiding anyway.

As far a airline travel, I've never had a problem with knives in the checked in luggage. Sometimes the TSA lookiloos want to open the bag because it looks strange to them in the x-ray.

Also, technically as far as state law is concerned you can wear a khuk or sword in open carry. However, I wouldn't do it in the city as you would scare someone and attract law enforcement attention unnecessarily.

Perhaps I should have been more explicit. I was using "CA" as the abbreviation for Canada.

Sorry for any confusion, and thank you for taking the time to make your helpful response to my less-than-clear post. My mistake.

Hi Noah!

I will have to check (goin' for a haircut). Consider for now, take the strictest state in the US and apply the same law.

I have the link to the law somewhere. Word of note, if a police officier or whatever checks your luggage and finds a large knife, you might have some very uncomfortable questions coming your way.

Travel stores now carry TSA luggage locks. They have a user-set combination, but can be opened by TSA personnel for inspection with a special key.
