Awhile back Dave posted some of his user and shop knives here on the custom forum. He had a knife pictured that looked to be very handy with iron wood handle's and a very useful looking blade. I inquired about the knife and Dave told me it was not for sale. Paul Long got involved (big thanks my man) and soon we had a little project. I love a good functional knife and Dave added stag and a beautiful hamon and now I have a classy work knife. Dave did all the sheath work provideing 2 fantastic sheaths a clip pouch and a Paul Long crossdraw. Dave's leather work is exceptional ( better watch out Paul ) and only matched by his excellent craftsmanship with his blades. I had to beg him to keep his finish simple because I wanted a user and it still came with a lovely finish that is to nice for a user. Dave is an outstanding craftsman and overly conscientious with delivery times and a true pleasure to deal with. Thanks Dave and Thank you Paul for the introuduction and letting Dave use your crossdraw style.
Here are some pics. I had bad light so I included one that Dave took at the end which shows the lovely temper line

good score Joe, that's a hell of a nice knife!

I absolutely LOVE that little knife! A very classy working knife indeed. Congrats!

Neat little knife. Looks like it could do a multitude of jobs. Dave's leather work IS great, and as soon as he has his surgery and can really crank out the leather I may just retire...............................................again.

Dave's work is exceptional and very unique, IMHO, and that's hard to do these days.

Congrats Joe. That will make a great little companion.
Very comfortable and functional design that
should hold up well under hard use.

What are the dimensions?

Thanks guys I really like it. I think it will also make a great capeing knife. No pointy tip to punch holes in the hide. I am bird hunting in the morning but in the afternoon my buddy is bringing his sons over to try and get some deer. Maybe I can try it out.

Kevin congrats on your Fisk doing so well. It is fantastic. The knife is 8 3/4 oal and a 4 1/4 blade.

I remember you sending me a picture of this with the wood handle. The stag looks much nicer and that blade shape is very unique. Great hamon too. Can't wait to see it.

Very glad you like the knife and sheaths Joe!! It's been a real pleasure working with you!

You've been talking about retiring ever since I've known you Paul :), what's it been 3 - 4 years........I don't think you have anything to worry about (canine) joe

Thanks you guys!

Dave

Thought I'd show Joe's other knife that never was:)

As I was making Joe's knife I told him I wasn't sure if I was happy how things were going with it. I started to make this one so he would have a choice but as you can see he chose the stag before I could finish it.

I had some odd shaped/size pieces of Ebony and Spalted Tamarind and wanted to see if they looked OK on this knife. It's just tacked on, I want to use some kind of wood and I may end up with a piece of Desert Ironwood Burl instead of this.......not sure yet.

:eek: I think that looks EXTREMELY nice Dave. As does the one Joe chose. They both look like they would function well.

SOLD! Put whatever wood you want on the handle (though I like that combo) and let me know when you're ready to go. No, I'm not kidding.

One sheath will be fine. :)
