Usually when I post it is as a maker. This time however,I am proud and excited to be posting as a collector:D!
To mark my turning 50 this past June,I decided my gift to myself would be a knife I had long lusted after, one of Dave's feather damascus bowies with amber stag, penny guard, and of course Dave's signiture hot chiseled buttcaps in the form of an indian chief.
The only other request I had was a touch of copper to tie the sheath into, which of course I had to make myself!
Needless to say it had to go to Coop for a bit of his magic after the sheath was made,so without further delay, here she is!

That feather pattern, and the way Coop captures it, is alive and flowing! This is my new favorite Lisch knife now.

My first thought when I saw that was "YUM"..............yup I'm a bit wierd. Awesome knife!
Darcy:)

Very nice John, and the sheath matches perfectly. Congrats!

in my opinion, Dave has the best sense of flow in his design work of any knife maker I can think of.

John Thank you. It was really an honor to be asked to make this knife it is my favorite style of knife to make and to do the butt cap face made it even more fun . your sheath goes really great with the knife . Jim thanks for the great pics. Lorien and the other folks thanks for the kind words

John, your sheath work really compliments the knife. Both are very well done. The carved Indian chief buttcap puts the piece over the top for me. It sets Dave's work above the rest. No doubt a D Lisch knife, could spot it from across the room. Congratulations on a great knife.

Proud & exited, I can understand that feeling very well! Any collector would be PROUD to own this piece. Beautiful!

kind regards,

THis piece simply ROCKS. The warmth and softness of those penny guards along with the colors. Striking.

A long flowing feather pattern draws your soul to the point. Then that crazy buttcap is winking at you... ;)

I don't think a sheath could be better matched. It's very Revolutionary.

Went back 'old school' on the inset. Works just fine.

Thank you guys!

Coop

excellent self birthday present, a knife made by a friend....talented collab me thinks.

Congrats John - that is a terrific bowie, and you made an equally special sheath for it. Props to both you and Dave.

John, if you edit your original post to add
immediately after (no spaces), the pics should show in your original post. Thanks to Norbert for the assist.

Thanks a lot guys! This is a special piece to me,and I can't thank both Dave and Coop enough for thier spectacular efforts!
Thanks for the tip Roger, and thanks to Berno for lending a hand.Coop had sent me details on how to fix the original post, and I finally got time to get it done!

John, I forgot to mention how awesome that sheath is. Makes me think of what happens after the monolith arrives...ie; alien interloping among first peoples. Very cool stuff going on there man, nice work!
