Two years ago the military moved me to Okinawa, Japan. Japan, for all their history of knives, has some really bad knife laws so I didn't have a single knife I could legally carry off base. Like most knife laws it's vague, but most folks agree on 2.5". I've always liked Dave Mosiers work (I have a small fixed blade and a flipper), but his web site didn't have any knives small enough. After a few emails he said he could cut down his "Spektor" model to fit the legal requirements. This arrived a few months back, it's perfect. So cool that my wife, who is not a knife nut, wants one for herself. So a second one is on order.
Finally getting pictures up:
It's great for carrying off base, I mostly use it at restaurants. Local places usually don't have knives, which is all right for me and the wife, but my kids are to small so I need to cut their food up.
Here's where I took the pictures, Nakagusuku Castle. Built in the late 1300s. Pretty cool place to wander around.
