I just found out Dave MacIntyre outlasted everybody to win Alone...... I had the great pleasure of meeting Dave at a PWYP knife nuts in the woods weekend..... I was impressed with his knowledge and his seriousness ........ I have hunted the area just to the north of Vancouver Island and I know that being alone in that area for a day is somewhat daunting...... It is Soooo wet and chilly....... It is one of the few places I have hunted or trekked and not built a fire for a brew up, warmth or just to do it....... 65 'effing days in that place, alone, is inconceivable to me...... I get the chills just thinking about it and it is about 94F right now!!!!!....

Sooo.... David, Congratulations!!!!!!!.... What you accomplished is really impressive, I stand in awe!

I was wondering how long it was going to take you to post something along these lines. :)
congrats pict!

I'm so behind on that show. I met Dave at Blade this year and sadly I didn't know who he was until he told me. A hell of a nice guy.

It's tough up here to make a fire when it's wet. Things don't just get damp the are soaked. It's not easy to do what they did. Congrats to all of those that lasted as long as they did.

That is good news. Thanks to the posters who referred to David as Pict... so I now realize who the guy is. I think of him as Colhane... the Tramontina machete expert, and the guy that showed the world the arapuca bird trap on YouTube.

and you can watch them all on history channel for free for now

I am new to this show... what was his kit he was allowed to bring with? Any knife?

bios, deployments, minimum kit requirements, maps, all that, online at the history channel. google for it.

Son of a *****!!!!! ... guess I won't watch the season 2 finale tomorrow night here in Canada...lol just joking ...I saw the thread and read it so spoilers on me for this one. I was in hopes I would win alone this year but figured I didn't stand much of a chance seeing as how I wasn't on the show :D

I've never met Dave, but i began pulling for him early in the show. He seemed to be very smart and efficient in his survival skills. Most importantly, he found the most reliable food source of everyone that competed. He quickly showed his proficiency in the situation he was placed in, and his demeanor as portrayed in the show made him look like a really good guy and father.
I've camped and hiked the West Coast Trail on Vancouver Island for 14 days, and I can tell you, what these competitors faced were really, really tough conditions. I'm glad I had a tent and packed my own food in.
