I received this knife to use for a week in a Bladeforums pass around put on by the maker,
David Mary
.
I had no experience with the handle material, Suretouch, it is a g10 and rubber laminate. Very cool stuff, feels great in the hand. It is grippy without being tacky. I am a fan. I will look for this handle material in the future.
David Mary makes a very comfortable handle shape. No extra jimping or anything needed to feel locked in when you grip this handle whether regular or reverse grip.
The knife is slick without being slippery, if that makes sense. The slightly rounded spine goes a long way in this overall feel.
The blade steel is 8670, which again I had no experience with. I only recall reading about 8670 in some essays from
Larrin
, on his website https://knifesteelnerds.com/
In my limited use of the knife it held its edge well. The fine edge could curl or chip out both softwoods and hard with no issue whether green wood or dried wood. By pinch griping the blade detail work was possible. I like the slight forward angle of the blade. The knife has a natural feel in the hand. The tip of the blade doesnt surprise you by being out of place. Good overall design.
The sheath is pretty standard kydex. AOK in my book.
Quick specifications, all measurements approximate 8.5 inches overall, 3 3/4 inch blade, I didnt get a weight, but the knife feels solid in the hand with weighted feel near index finger while using a regular grip.
