I asked David a while back for small integral I could use for pocket carry. After some discussion we firmed up the order and then this week I get an email from David showing me the rough shape of the knife. I asked if he had some more pics and here we go:

W2 Bar

The tang:

Starting the blade:

Bolster:

Some handle choices:

Rosewood

Natural Maple

Dyed Maple

I went with the Natural Maple. I have a number of darker wood handles and the Rosewood certainly appealed to me but it'll be nice to have something different in my collection.

this is going to be fun i just have to remember to bring the camera out to the shop with me now.should do the heat treat this weekend

Here's a few shots of the Box Elder Roger eyed. I'm going to go with the natural Maple, David thought the Maple block was better suited for the scales vs this Box Elder block he has.

Some pics of the heat treatment:

muddy, not sure there was a bad choice for the handle material. Every piece beautiful in it's own respect.
You are going to have a very special knife there.

Thanks for the comments everyone. David continues to be a gentlemen to deal with, excellent communication and updates and more pics!

Here are some shots of the tapered tang, partial finishing, hamon and rough scales.

I like the slightly flattened bolster area. Together with the tapered tang, that should help keep the weight down.

David just told me this is complete and he is making a pocket sheath for me. These are pics he sent me a week or so ago showing the drilled tang and the handle being finished.

COOL....I love these threads. Looks like it is going to be a sweet little knife. Watching these threads makes me want to try forging.

David sent me a note with a few quick pics. Once the sheath is stained we're done! David mentioned he has some high quality pics being edited for me but wanted to give me a quick update.

I could not be more happy with this knife and the process. Very professional the entire way.

That's a great looking little integral! Congratulations!

Don't you just love it when it all comes together in the end?
Nice little integral.
Thanks for sharing the experience.

We're done!

2 1/2 edge, 3inch tip to bolster, 6 7/8 OAL. Steel is W2 with a tapered tang, Maple handle with black liners and lanyard/bead by Fuzzyedge.

David did an excellent job on this small integral. Beautiful handrub finish on the blade, a light hamon, tight fit on the scales and very comfortable in hand. The handle flairs out slightly to just infront of the second pin then tapers flatly to the butt. This is very light - see drilled tang pics earlier in the thread -and perfect for pocket carry! Thanks David!

another awesome knife makes its way to Canada.
If you get tired of it one day, let me know;)
