When it comes to custom traditional knives (Barlows, etc) I consider David Taber to be one of the absolute best knife makers for the $400 - $700 his knives sell for. I candidly think his rates are fair considering the quality and craftsmanship of his work. I've got a traditional Barlow with Mammoth Ivory handles and ATS-34 steel (long pull) and an elephant ivory Swayback with a wharncliffe style blade that is drop dead gorgeous
Curios as to what others think of Mr. Taber's knives? Also, do you guys have any other knife makers that's are in this price range whom offer similar type of product. After all, with Tony Bose as his mentor and who he has learned his abilities from, I have yet to find a comparable maker (aside from Joel Chamblin, Jerry Halfrich). I've included pics of my Tabers Below.
