I have looked at a lot of production D2 knives and they all have evidence of the carbide inclusions along the edge after sharpening. No so David Winston's knives of the same steel. Does anyone know if David forges his blades?
I looked at the edge on one with a microscope at 40X and the edge was as smooth as a glass rod.

I do not forge my D2 blades. I use stock removal. My finishes are finer and finer grits of paper lubricated with elbow grease. I grind the blades very thin before sharpening. After sharpening I polish/strop them on a leather belt on the grinder. Then strop on leather some more by hand. I hope this answers your questions. If you have more questions about my methods please feel free to email me and I will try to help out. Thanks and have a good day.

David, Your blades are superb. The more I use them the more I like them.
My GF has stolen the "key". ;)
