My 186 is on it's way to Buck for a BG-42. I think I am going to be okay without it. Is it obsesive to check the tracking number every hour? They should have it Monday. :jerkit:

dude, what happened to the 186 blade? inquireing minds want to know!

To many years of use! The blade was about half it's width and 3 3/8 long. I carry it daily. No abuse but it is used every day which caused me to sharpen it every three weeks or so. I have three more tucked away in the caskets they came in but they are new. It just would not be right to use them.

well that makes good logic...
i hear that the bg 42 is real good but have not tryed it...
had you consitered S30V with Bos Heat treat?
i hear that it is super corson resistant... and was devloped as a blade steel.
it is what was in the drop point club 110...

The first thing I asked for was S30V but it was not available. If I can get my hands on another 186 user I am going to send it in with a Cabelas 110. Have the Cabelas down graded to a BG-42 and have S30V hooked up with the 186. I held out for about 6 months waitng to find another user with no luck. In an urban enviroment the 186 is the only primary knife I carry until today!

"Downgraded to a BG-42"?

Why would you consider that a "downgrade"? Curious as someday (emphasis on "somday") I plan on ordering from the BCKS. I was thinking of getting a BG-42 as I have never used that on a EDC. It cost $4 more than a ATS-34 on the order site....so, gee willikers, it must be better Wally.

I can think of several Bucks to EDC in an urban environment. As for three 186 units in caskets. You need to spread those around so that they are separated in case of some urban situation where they would be damaged, destroyed, or stolen. Kine like the "Sullivan Act"...no brothers on the same ship in case it goes down. I know a safe place on the west coast.

I work in an urban environment as well and I carry a Buck Mayo TNT to work. It has a pocket clip is very light since the frame and clip are made of titanium, and the blade is made with S30V. Great knife! You may want to check it out. I won't leave home without mine! Here's a photo. The blade measures 3 1/8 inches.

Yep, what Mike said.
If I have to go into the the office, or other occassions where I have to wear "grown up" clothes, I take my TNT S30V. Always. I ended up putting a OAB on mine as I don't care for the thumb hole gig.

On every other "normal" day I always have my 298GY ATS-34 clipped in my pocket. Then a 110 Bass Pro CPM154 or 112FG (reg steel) for backup.

So, there hasn't been a day in recent memory where I have been Buckless.

So, D6O, you can spare a 186 and Goose can try one as an EDC for a long term evaluation ;)

No. But be sure to edit the title of this thread every day... :)

(You're a day behind already!) :grumpy:

Well Day 2 was kind of a blur paced around a lot, blood pressure is elevated and can not concentrate. I took out one of the NIB 186's and considered carrying it this week but put it back. I did consider at one time liquidating my 186 collection but I hate to put the burdon on someone else to take care of them. The TNT looks like a great knife. It is how ever a little small for my Gorillia sized hands.

The wife advised me it's just a knife!

The rage and tunnel vision is still with me from that comment.
