Hey Beckerheads. This warm weather we are having in GA would be wasted if we didn’t use it to get some more outdoor time. This time I had the fam with me and my second favorite knife. I also promised after my “how to drill a hole in a Becker” post that I would put pics up. The only thing you don’t get from the pics is the 15 minute rendition of the “I love my pinecone” song by my son and the excitement from my wife that you can actually get water from a tree. So here it is.

Great job on the mods man! Anytime you get out is good, but getting out with family is better.

That's a crazy 7 bro. I like it! Glad you got out, the wife, boy and myself headed out for a few hour hike today as well. Looks like a great time.

heh, check out your son grabbing your wife's knife. sneaky little guy :)

Looks like a great time ! I wish my wife would join me to the outdoors, but no chance... Luckily my 3 1/2 yr daughter is a different story .

And that 7 is crazy ! I want one like this too...

Awesome mods, and it looks like a great time was had by all!

Do you have a thread someplace detailing the mods you did to your knife?

Thank you everyone. This was my first attempt at a knife mod so what you are seeing is a compilation of failed ideas. Yes it does look like a Busse. My favorite and grail knife is my NMFBM and there are features of it that I love. That knife is for the most part impractical for what I need a knife for and nine times out of ten you will see me carrying this one or my esee 4. I tried to take ideas that I liked about other knives and integrate them in to my BK-7. Hence the look of it.

I don’t have another thread of the mods but here is a quick rundown.
1. I like the talon hole and the top design of the Busse knife scales so that’s where that came from.
2. The swedge is rounded off because I like to baton things and this saves the baton a little grief.
3. The spine is the odd mess of failed attempts at file work. I ended up going with the “natural” look.
4. The butt is the failed attempt at making a place to strike fire steel but couldn’t get it sharp enough for some reason so I rounded it off to look sort of like a bone. I wish I would have seen the bottle opener mod before I did this part.
5. The color is Alumahyde grey something that I put on after I stripped it.
6. That is around the ninth patina put on after I stripped the Alumahyde back off the blade portion. I took siracha and globbed it on and hit it with a wood spoon every 15 minutes to move it a little. I think it turned out pretty good. Then again what doesn’t go good with siracha?
7. The scales are hand shaped with stainless pins. I liked the more rounded butt end and how the esee TKC scales are bigger in the back so I tried to recreate that. I think I used too much epoxy because there is about a .5/16 gap in between the handle and scale on one side.
8. I am a fan of d-guards and every one of my users gets the skull bead stamp of approval.

We both laughed at the picture of Z grabbing my wife’s knife. Didn’t notice it until we went through the pics at the house. I think he just wanted some of the water. He loves being out in the woods. We volunteer at the state park trailblazing and bring him along to help. He loves getting out there and getting dirty. He won a RC-3 with his raffle ticket at Blade 2010 so that is sitting in the safe waiting to be his first real knife. (he won’t have to steal mommies RMD) I was thinking of getting some steel and making him a real looking but rounded edge knife to carry with him. This post is getting to be a long one so thanks for the compliments and thank you again Mr. Becker for making such bad a&$ knives. (and bring on the tweeners).

Looks like a beutiful day in the woods with a lovely family. Great looking Bk as well. Wish I had skills but would probably screw up even taking the

stock scales off!

Love the Paul Frank hoodie. Yeah, I got a 3.8 year old who is a big fan:cool:

Looking forward to some spring trekking with him and the missus as well.
