Went as lightweight as I am comfortable with today. A handful of gear and solitude.

No police radio blaring calls, no domestics, no traffic......

Me and the hill. Didn't see another soul the entire day.

Nirvana. :D

No trace old school. I brought it out with me. My son has never seen one of these.

Great pics buddy...sometimes going minimal makes a nice change eh, especially on those steep climbs !!!

It sounds like you had a pretty good day out even if the hill did get your ticker going a little more than you might have wanted.

Looks like it was a nice hike, sometimes solitude is worth our weight in gold eh? The gear you had were good choices to have. I haven't left home without a nanostriker in over two years now, and I'm really digging the Suunto MC2G compass I bought last year. Is the light a Klarus or a 4sevens? Sometimes just those two pieces of gear, a small light, and a decent knife...and a camera...are all I'll have on me when I wonder away from the truck for a photo or two and the next thing I know the truck is a few miles away. Cool shot of the moth/butterfly, I've only seen a few recently but since it is the middle of winter it's odd seeing the few I have seen. This has been one crazy winter.

The flashlight is a 4sevens Preon Revo SS...with the spring upgrade.

The original springs weren't that great.

I had a Victorinox Outdoorsman that I replaced the Marlboro scales with red plus scales. Great knife....terrible pics of it though. I had to can them.

Already have a route picked out for next week....if the weather cooperates. I bought a stainless water bottle the other day with store credit and am going to carry that instead of the plastic bottles I have been so fond of.

I live in a suburban area but I have a spacious backyard. I love spending a beautiful spring or fall day working on the yard or messing with my small garden. This get away doesn't cost anything but time. There truly isn't anywhere better in the world than my backyard hammock, especially with gas prices rising like they are.

Great inspirational photos. I saw "minimal gear" and expected to see 3 knives in the pictures. Good that you didn't over do it with the blades, too.

Sure is nice to escape the madding crowd once in a while.

Thanks for taking this crowd along though! ;)
