:) Spent the day in the woods hiking and exploring. Seen a wild turkey and a few deer. Very beautiful day, took video camera also. The gear I took: Maxpediton Falcon II loaded with my hiking and survival gear, my ESEE RC-5 and IZULA and my home made walking stick.

Great Pics!! What part of the country are you from??

I'm from Hiram, Georgia. The place I was hiking is about 15 miles from me; it's Kennesaw Mt. National Part. It is about 30 miles from Atlanta. It's a real treasure to be so close to me. It's several thousand acres; it has many hiking trails, but I always get off the trails.

more info on the hiking stick wood! thats very nice wood.

The wood on my stick is hickory. I let it dry for a year with the bark still on; I left the bark on after it dried and sanded it. I leave the bark on some of the sticks I make, some I remove it. Once I have sanded them; some get stained and some are left natural. 3 coats of clear Helsman varnish is applied.

Nice pics! After seeing the cactus wasn't expecting Georgia though....

I agree, Georgia would not have been my pick either! Certainly the next time we get down that way we are going to have to get off the road and see that great country.

That cactus looks like Prickly Pear, that stuff grows all over the south east I believe. Hell I think Riley found some in NY once..

Great pics and that is a beautiful area! We're way over on the east side (Outside of Augusta) and there are some great areas for outdoors activities...We still need a couple hours drive north to get into the hills though.
