Day hikes ideas for Lake Tahoe?

Going with the family to South Lake Tahoe for the long weekend. I was finally able to convince my wife to do something other than going to the lake or hitting up the bars and casinos. Do you guys have any recommendations for a nice, scenic day hike in the area?

Head for Desolation Wilderness. There are access points from the east, along the west shore of Tahoe. I have only done one hike there, we went up from Twin Bridges/Horsetail Falls from highway 50 to climb Pyramid Peak as a dayhike. The lake basins of Desolation Wilderness are very scenic.
