Day in the woods with Ethan Becker

Being a knifemaker one pretty cool part of my job is getting to play with a wide range of knives. Having made somewhere in the neighborhood of 400 pieces I've had some pretty cool stuff to play with. However, I'm usually pretty partial to my own stuff, and while I always admire other makers work I seldom purchase them. (Kinda defeats the purpose of being a knifemaker).... Many of you on this forum know my good friend Murphy (murphnuge) He has always tried to get me to pledge my allegiance to the great Eathen Becker, and seeing as how he invited me to attend the Beckerhead gathering in may, I thought I should probably see what this Eathen Becker and his knives where all about. So I called Murph and within a hour he very proudly dropped off a whole plethora of Becker knives. So I put my stuff away for the day, picked out the knives that intrested me the most, threw them and the wife in the truck and set out for a day in the woods. Here are some thoughts and pics of our very good day. Hope you enjoy!

had the most fun with the bk 9. This thing is awesome! I fell this tree in 3 swings. I'm gonna rush right into town and tattoo this knife on the side of my face!

Good choices. Those are some of my favorites too. Wait til you try a Tweener though. Definitely should add one of those to the mix.

I realized it was time to head into town for lunch after my wife started gnawing on this tree;-) No beavers where harmed during the taking of these pics! Thanks for lookin!

gots to watch those teeth later on :) if they can take on trees, whoa!

Great pictures Todd
Looks like you and the lady had fun. Im glad Murph got you to check out some Beckers, there is no turning back now :D
But what I reeeeeally like.....those shorts. Send some this way!!

Damn, little late to the show. Too much beer, I guess.... So, you liked them?!

Sorry you didn't like my choice apparell Travis but my Richard Simmons work out shorts was in the washer! ;-)

You know. I am truly sorry to Godspeed and mywifethinksimcrazy! I asked Murph specifically about the sheaths for the esee and the bk 10 because they impressed me so much. For years I had my own sheaths made for me, unfortunately my friend that made them has fallen ill and probably does not have much time left. This last year I have been making my own sheaths and have come to realize what a art in itself it is. These two gentlemen are at the top of there game as far as I'm concered! I meant to mention them in my post but totally forgot and I am sorry. These two sheaths are the quality that I hope I can turn out and would not hesitate for a minute to buy product from either one!

nice pics - hope to see you and Gina at the gathering in may.
p.s. that's a Kabar Eskabar (BK14) not an ESEE... I'm sure it was just a typo - you meant Esky, right? ;)

lol been wondering if I was only one who caught that. I didnt wanna point it out.

Thank you guys for not tearin me apart for not knowin my Beckers. But you can go ahead and call me stupid! Like I said. I'm pretty partial to my own stuff! I'm not up to date on models and numbers so to speak but I'm puttin forth a effort! The only thing I know is the little knife had esee on the side. Oh well! Murph is probably shackin his head in disgust right now! :-) he's comin by tomarrow to finish his beckonet. I'll throw some beers down his throat and maybe he'll forgive me!

Not an issue, I'm just happy ur tryin the Beckers out. Also TY for helpin with the Beckonet, that things AWESOME!

the BK14 (the lil knife ur wife likes, a woman with impeccable taste BTW) is a hybrid, the handle is from a ESEE Izula and the blade is from a Becker 11. which is why its marked both "KBAR/BK&T'' AND ''ESEE"

It's all good man -- that blade was a collaboration between ESEE & Becker/Kabar -- one side has the ESEE badge, the other says Becker.
Considering the fact that you have Murph misguiding you, we should be able to cut you all the slack you need. :D
