27 April 2014: DAY OF REMEMBRANCE - THE HOLOCAUST

holocaust.jpg

Begins at sunset this evening

A day for deep thought and prayer.

And also to remember how it happened. I see more and more people with an attitude that what happened in the past is in the past and has no relevance now. The potential for another event like the Holocaust is still there, as are almost all of the beliefs that led to it, and I'm not just talking about hate groups, I'm talking about common views held by a lot, if not most, people.

Today is a day to pay our respects to the dead and the survivors, sure. But also a day to reflect on ourselves so that we can prevent anything like the Holocaust from happening in the future.

Thankfully, one of the U.S. general's had everyone document the conditions of the death camps so that no one could ever claim "it didn't happen."

Lest we forget...

It was recent history. Only 70 years ago.

And we could do it again --- sobering thought.
