Me an a coulple buddys went out fishing yesterday to our favorite spot but the temp. was 70 deg. an sunshine so we were not the only ones at our secret spot  an the guy down from us was haveing a noticeably hard time figureing out how to use his open face reel, an I conderser my self a professional amature fisherman :D I walked down to see if I could help him out, an after seeing the mess of line he had knoted up I decided it would be best to cut the line an start over an he agreed.

so I go for my knife an he goses for his an I see it has turned into a race of who could get there knife out the fasted an I pull mine out first witch hapened to be a mini grip an he proceeds to flip out because i'm carrying a benchmade so after I get everything fixed we talk an fish for about the next 4 hours he told me all about his knife collation an I tell him about mine.

between the two off us we caught about 40 crappy an 10 or 12 bass sense I only live a few miles from the fishing hole he followed me home to look at my collation an he is sopessed to come back wed. to trade some carbon v cold steel FB for som of my spyderco folders I also told him about blade forums here he would probably fit right in over at w&c if anyone cares about what comes of the trade let me no here is a pic. of 16 crappy I will cook up wed.,

That's great! It's funny to see us "knife-lovers" share a lot of the other same hobbies. Good on you for helping him out...I'm getting a co-worker to help me fish my lake:o I'm not a big bass fisher, so he's going to give me a few tips as he's a pretty accomplished bass tournament fisherman. I can catch a few, but just not too successful and I'm dying for a mess of brim on the grill:D

Nice story. It's always great to bump into another wilderness and knife enthusiast while enjoying the outdoors.

Nice stringer, too!

All the best,

- Mike

P.S. punctuation, please!

Yup he'd fit right in for sure, I've never posted so much on any other forum. BF makes my GF jealous. Kudos to all the forumites that make this place one of a kind! sincerely.

ya that is 16 crappy out of the 40 + - we caught along with 10-12 bass I've been fishing that spot sense I was 5 with my dad an grampal now I take my girlfriends an buddys an hope to take my childern there one day, Chris

I always get a kick out of people who hold spinning reels upside down and reel backwards. I try to tell them they are doing it wrong but they always get offended ;)

I just had some crappie my dad caught a few nights ago. It was the first crappie of this year, really tasty.

Glad to hear about the run-in with another knifenut. Not many around me, just some people who can appreciate a few nice blades.

Did you fillet the crappie? What knife did you us? Crappie in the spring, it doesnt get any better.

Thats a nice bunch of crappie and the perfect size too.

They are really good eating this time of year.

I started flyfishing as a kid with crappie. Man if you find a good spot it is a fish a cast.
We used to knock the heads, scale and gut. Lose too much meat on the little guys filleting and they fry so fast whole anyway. Perch the same way.

Sometimes we would bread and deepfry them in a couple inches of oil in a dutch. They never fall apart when they have the skin.(which I like)

:) Nice pic, good story. Hopefully we will have a new member soon. I think its time to get the fishing poles down, I'm ready to go now. Thanks for sharing.

Oh man, must resist whine and cheese response, must resist whine and cheese response, must resist......:D

Just kidding,

Great story.

Nice story, it's always good to make new buddies that share our interests. On another note, how do Crappy fish taste? I've always had an aversion because of the name. Are they a lean or fatty white fish? How do they compare to ..... snapper or trout?
