We left early this morning for a hike and to "play" with some knives. :D Of course we took more then we needed but hey we're knife nuts and one is certainly not enough. :D We took some pics of some wood spliting, firebuilding and a view at 2000 ft. Sorry the pics aren't the best. :(

Here I am spliting some firewood with a 5160 knife.

This is my friend Ed starting our cook fire. We have some hot Oodles of Noodles with tea and coffee. It was 29 degrees with snow.

These are the knives we brought. From left to right, Jones brothers fixed blade, Tops Alaskan Harpoon, Marbles Ideal from A.G.Russell, Ruana 6" sticker, Randall model 15, the next two were the Busse blanks I purchased from Justin Gingrich and finished myself, Sog Hunter Revolver (I used the saw), and one of my 5160 hunters. The two folders are a Lone Wolf Harsey and a SAK.

This is me having a hot cup of coffee.

This was the view after a two mile hike straight up to the top of the mountain.

Looks like fun. What part of PA where you in? How do you like that Harsey? I've been kind of eyeing one lately.

Great pics Scotty. Looks like you were at one of the shelters up on the Trail.
Very good selection of "companions".

Take care..........

Scott, it looks like a wonderful trip, sure is nice to get out like that for just a little while. You must have had to carry a tater sack to carry all them blades in ! :D This is what I call real fun stuff, great pics too. How do you like the Harsey ? Been thinking about looking at one of the new camo smaller versions.

Robbie Roberson ;)

Guys the Harsey was my friend Ed's knife. It's the smaller version. I handled it and it is very well made, opened and closed smooth as butter. We were on the Appalacian Trail in the Michaux state forest. It's in western Adams county above Frederick and Washington counties of Maryland. That view was at 2000 ft. and was breath taking, (so was the climb) :D
John hope you had a good show at Westminster. I'll see you at Timonium.

Man Scott...I need to be there! :D
I wish I could do it more often. Sometimes it's just fun to act like a kid again, playing with our knives in the woods. Keeps the mind clear.

Scott - Had a better than average show at Westminster.

One of the regulars was asking about you; said he wanted to buy one of your knives.

I told him you would probably be at Timonium & PG Co.

See you there....

I'll be at both shows John see you there.
Esav, it did seem like a knife show with all we had but you know how it is one or even two is never enough. :D

Wish I could have been there my friend. That looks like it was a great time. Wish you had more pictures of the knives at work, but you did do better than I at getting some ;) :D

Cerberus

Cerberus, I too wish I could have gotton more pics but we are going to do it again and I hope to get some more. The wood I was spliting in the first two pics was seasoned maple and it was TOUGH stuff. There were knots in it and at one point the blade turned at a 45 degree angle as I batoned it down. That 5160 is awesome steel because I kept on going until it split even with the lateral pressure it had no problem. The edge held up, no chipping or rolling. I'm loving 5160 the more I use it. :D

That last pic is gorgeous! But, if you're going on a hike, man, why'd you take so many knives. I can understand wanting to try them all out, but if you're going hiking, take a well made kukri, it serves as a camp spatula/knife/hatchet. Throw in a good folder and a spear point fixed blade, just for good measure. :D

We thought it would be fun to get a pic of the different knives we like. We don't normally carry that many. This wasn't a serious hike just a take your time fun day in the woods. :D
