Just thought I;d post my day trip load out kit
admittedly this is the same as my overnight kit - the bed roll and some more food
there;s not too much in the way of fancy gear but it gets the job done

I use a butt pack (mountain smith) mostly becaus I have a bad back and only use a back pack when I have to

it's decent, Doesn;t chop like a full one but it;s a neat tool to have, that can fit inside a gear pocket.. I also removed the hex screw on the head so I can use the head with a boton like a splitting wedge, or pop the head off and carve up a longer handle in the field if I need to do some heavier chopping.

Cool setup. I've been thinking about going the same route in two areas and have questions.
How long is the haft now on your trail hawk?
Do you use suspenders/straps on the fanny pack? How does it do with all that weight, do you have to keep pulling it up? What model is the pack?
Thanks.

the Hawk is 12 inches... I wanted something a little longer than a gerber pack axe but that could still fit insid the bag, or be tucked behind the poncho externally with out haning out the sides.

I don;t usse suspenders.. With full nalgenes and food for 2 days tjhe bag starts to to ride down.
but for day hikes its usually fine.

I believe it is the mountainsmith tour model
