Looked at the North Face Mainframe and Kelty Payload. Any thoughts on these or any other suggestions?

Thanks,

You might check out Boblbee backpacks.

Hardshell packs, good ergonomics, modular design and most models come with computer sleeves standard. The hardshell is perfect insurance for those of us who tend to bang our stuff around some, and the packs look pretty cool. Lots of cool stuff to customize the pack, too.

I've seen some Hartman laptop cases that were sort of a day pack and had a laptop sleeve. I've also seen a more traditional Hartman laptop looking bags (although a pretty large ones) that actually have a pretty comfortable set of straps hidden under a flap that let's you wear it like a backpack while trundling through airports, but then looks like a business bag when it's meeting time. These bags are really well built and normally run between $500.00- $600.00 But there's a national liquidator called Tuesday Morning that has killer closeouts on high end stuff and they've got some of these hartman bags for like 63% off! Even at that price, they're expensive bags, but real functional.

Look at tuesdaymorning.com to se if there's a store near you. They even have knives. Usually just the spanish or chinese Henckels sets, but occasionally they get some good stuff in. I just picked up a Sabatier Professional (the good French steel) chef's knife and steel for my buddy at 63% off retail. They also had a couple cleavers from the same line. You have to be careful taking your wife to a place like this though as they have a bunch of high end women's stuff too. To me, a $400.00 set of sheets still costs too much even at 75% off! If you time it right, sometimes they even put the stuff in a clearance isle and mark it down another 40%!!! If I see one of these Hartman's on the clearance isle, it's mine for sure.

I've already got a pretty killer Tumi case which works great for local travel (most of what I do), but am thinking about one of these Hartmans for the times when I have to fly to tradeshows and tend to pack more. Being able to wear it like a backpack could seriously cut down on the backpain that follows lugging a heavy bag on one side of your body and then just hide the straps away once I get to the show.

Hope this info helps.
