First and foremost, thank you to our veterans, servicemen and servicewomen.

Rain. Grey sky. Cold. Day off. Gf at work. Tired of sitting at home. Seemed like a fine time to go out and hike a state park.

With me? A Mountainsmith lumbar pack filled with a few trinkets and on the belt a BRKT Gameskeeper II in a homemade kydex sheath by 'knivesandstuff' (Kyley) from NZ.

Enjoy the pics.

Soon after getting off the marked trail, I walked onto a group of deer. What a scene to have so many of them looking at you while exhailing coulds of steam through their noses - what a sound effect too. :-) One young buck stood out and held his ground for a while. I stood still for a few minutes, then he stepped back into the woods.

I had driven by the remains of an old building a few times and set out to explore it in a little more detail. This road seems to run right along the border of that state park.

Crossing the stream. A refreshing "cool" feeling in the feet.

I unexpectedly stumbled onto this while on the way back to the car.

Looks like you had a good time. Cool pics, thanks.

Yeah. It was fun. I don't usually like to take photos while I'm "enjoying" myself (picture taking seems to take the fun away - go figure). The pictures above are just the highlights of what I saw. Most of the hike was off the marked trails in the thick woods - now THAT'S fun! :D

It's a new, to me, park and seems to have some interesting trails ranging from 2 to 16 miles including a whole section closed off to hunters in season. So, it's a great "local" get-away.

You found some fresh oyster mushrooms. Ive been looking for some all fall. Did you harvest them?
