DB Haft

I'm loath to leave an old tool unuseable, I need a DB haft. The one place around here that sells decent hafts, I've bought the one good one and the fair one. The rest I'll leave behind, the grain goes sideways. The other logging supply has no hafts of any sort in his rack. And as for big box and chains, these are Canadian branches. I tried Home Depot, "We don't sell handles, only axes. " Lowes was better, 36" single bit only. Canadian Tire had a few Chinese Yardworks single bit, One Rona building supply had a fat Task brand, single bit again and the other local Rona had a range of Garant single bit, all with the yellow rubber grip coated end. Rant Over.

I've thought of ordering from Beaver Tooth, but when I did a search here, I hesitated. Beside ordering on line is like getting a mail order bride with out at least photo or even a letter.

Is making your own out of the question?
Other than that I keep my eyes peeled on the auction sights and what our own ninja tool sleuth jblyttle finds.

You are right about making one, as it is, anyone I could have gotten would have been introduced to a spokeshave. My bandsaw is a early 14" Beaver, made just after the war, making it older than even me. I'll check on Monday if I can get some hickory.
