DB or TKa?

There's a chance that I got that knife bug thing (that's often discussed) that has me looking at what to buy next. Recently obtained a BT as my first Strider. Any input on the DB or Triple Aught Designs' soon to be released TKa as a small fixed blader?

I've handled both, but my vote goes to the TK. I have one on order at TAD, and got to handle the proto on a few of my visits. I think it's 3/16" stock, definitely not 1/4". The combination of the thumb ramp and finger groove give it a different feel than most Striders. Can't wait for mine to get done, am getting one in green micarta w/tiger stripes.
YMMV, of course.

It depends on what you want to do with it. I also like the TK (I almost got one at Blade West-but something else on the table really grabbed me), but it is not made for the same thing as the DB. I originally requested the guys at Strider to build me a small knife that would do everything my BT or WB would as far as strength. I carried a BT in my war bag in my unit as a police officer, but I couldn't carry it all the time. The DB was designed to fit inside the trauma plate pocket of my body armor, so it was always with me. It was used often. The DB is basically a "back-up" to the full-size BT. I am a big beliver in consistant carry in handguns. When carrying a full size HK or Glock on duty, I will usually carry a small compact version of the same gun as a back-up or off-duty. This was part of the design of the DB. It was the BT I could carry everywhere and always have, yet worked identical as far as techniques for use as my big one. If you are happy with your BT and are training with it, I would go with the DB for consistancy in training and deployment. If you are looking for a knife to do a different job, then the Tk may be the right tool.

Feed back from real users and Strider delivers. I like this company. You also might want to look at the HT, one almost went home with me at the gunshow, but I remembered I was poor.
Either way, you will like it.

I've got a Tka on order. Haven't handled the blade but it looks like a great small fixed blade. It will go along with my 6.5 Strider custom. -Dick

Tiger Stripe with textured G-10 slabs just came home with me...

Came with a IWB sheath and is now strapped to my side. Thank you Josh for parting with the blade that you picked for yourself.

I've gotten the chance to play with all the different TAD prototypes (sometimes before they did) and while they are cool knives, I'll stick with my DB. I just am not a fan of the thumb ramp. Buy both so you support TAD's innovative new stuff and have the original small bad boy.
