DC knife laws

I work in D.C. and was wordering what is the DC law pertaining to the legal length blade limit a person can carry? Is there any DC laws that would stop me from carrying a MT LCC in town? Don't want to get into any trouble. Then again,half the hoodlum's in DC carry guns..........go figure.

I am going to repeat what I've been told. I'm a Federal employee and I travel to Washington frequently. I have been told that by DC policemen that the legal limit is 3". Also, most of them measure from the handle NOT the cutting edge. In Federal buildings weapons are prohibited but there is a specific exemption for knives with blades under 2.5". After 9/11 though you might encounter overzealous enforcement in Federal buildings.

Search the archives for Federal laws and comments from other DC travellers or workers. I think this subject has come up several times.
