Hi,
Just got a DC Munroe Chimera today - Carbon Fiber scales over Ti handle - Talonite blade.

The knife is VERY pretty, and the blade cuts VERY well, but as others have said about Talonite, it's a bit strange - It won't shave, but it cuts paper like magic

The only complaint is that the action is a BIT stiff - it seems the side pressure of the lock is causing a lot of friction. I tried white lighting on the action, and it made things worse - the action would actually SQUEEK. I went to a nice gun oil, and it works OK now - I think silicon oil might be the ticket

The sticky lock thing can be solved very easily. Just get a graphite pencil and rub it on the tang and the lockbar face. This will reduce that stiction (I think that's the proper term) while still allowing for a positive lock. (*trick courtesy of Daniel O'Malley)

All talonite liner locks squeek.......its part of the nature of the beast (Have talked to Kit Carson about this at length)
However, with ANY type of lube it goes away....I put a dab of lite grease in the detent hole in the blade.

Good luck with it, Charles. The knife is a beauty. A friend of mine has worked with Deryk and has a prototype of the Chimera. I'm just about ready to take the plunge.

Tom was humble enough not to say that his Talonite blades come hair popping sharp.

You might want to send it back for a spin on the buffer... or touch it up yourself.

I'm sure you will grow to love the Talonite/Stellite. Even when it doesn't feel sharp, it still cuts like a b!tch!!

Enjoy,:D

Now a follow up on the Chimera.

When I posted the first review, I said that the Chimera was not scary sharp - I figured that was a property of the Talonite. I was informed here on this thread that I was wrong. A minute or so on the Sharpmaker fixed that problem

Now that I've been carrying the knife every day since I posted the first review, I figured it was time.

I've put the knife through some fairly hard use. I moved about 1 week ago, and Used the knife for all my packing and unpacking - cutting rope, opening boxes, trimming ceiling tile (don't ask), stripping wire.

In addidtion, it cuts up my morning peach or apple.

The knife has held up VERY well, and finally needs to be sharped now. The only complaint is that you have to be careful with the belt sheath. About 5-6 times I thought that the knife was secure in the seath when the knife fell on the floor. The knife has held up well during the drops, but I've learned to REALLY check the sheath
