Thanks RL - have to get Gold Membership so can attach pics I guess - that knife is something to behold in person - have had two weeks with it and it still amazes me. Not just length of blade that is impressive - the width blows me away - also scary sharp 30V - probably best edge I've seen from DDR and I have a lot of his knives.

No problem (BTW, you can also post pics through a remote hosting site like photos.yahoo.com)

In terms of thickness, you are referring to the fact that the knife is THIN, right? It's my understanding that it's designed to be thin without compromising in strength...

Got it taken care of now - never could EPSON Photo site to work - here's 1st pic.

Pics don't do this knife justice - have to handle it to really appreciate how nice it is - Darrel has really done it this time! Best edge/grind I have seen from DDR and his earlier work was pretty damn good! - have to be very careful with this, it will bite you if you slip! :p :D :D

Between the Mad Maxx and Aftermath, Darrel is "gitt'n medieval on us!"

They are both modern and medievel. Hey! maybe a new line should be called M&M! :)

Boink, for some reason what you said put an image of Darrel in my head that I'd just as soon forget! :p

Wow that Aftermath is some knife..., just gorgeous artistic impression.., and not very heavy for a big guy! What a knife!

Just couldn't resist. I had seen too many of these and when I found out that Larry had gotten three I finally broke down. I have it on order and it will be here in the morning. That Ida is on the ball! I had one of the first runs of the original Madd Maxx that Darrell did a while back. I've read somewhere that Darrell felt this model was even better due to some of the things he learned enroute to making the Aftermath. Don't know about that as I traded off the MM a year or so ago :( and can't even tell you know what I traded it for. Had a period there with absolutely little direction as to what I wanted to collect. Now that I have direction (see signature line) I think the Aftermath will fit in nicely with my knives from John, Kit, and Mike.

Anyone else out there got one you have put through the paces? Lets hear about it!

Just got home a couple of hours ago after a nice relaxing day in the mountains. We went to Boone, N.C. and rode the Blue Ridge Parkway a ways then came back down to stop at Mast's General Store. If you've never been you need to go. We hit this place at least once a year and I love the clothes they stock. Picked up a nice Columbia fleece vest and a Spyderco Meerkat! But this post is not about vests or meerkats, instead it concerns one of the biggest and baddest folders around, the AFTERMATH!! Got home and checked the front porch and sure 'nuff the Fed Ex guy had left it just as I asked him too. Got it open and flicked the blade and out comes the biggest and widest folder blade I've ever seen. Sharp ain't the word for this kind of sharp. The carved handle just fits in the hand well. The curves, contours, and carving see to that. The lock is as solid as any integral lock I've used and I've used a bunch. It does not move a bit until I want it to move. Absolutely no blade wobble. Nice centered blade when closed. The only thing I have dsone is to tighten up the pivot to my liking which means tight. The blade is recurved but reminds me of a big folding hunter style, sorta like Case has. Don't know what else to say as this knife is in a class all by itself. It is the result of the things learned in the building of the Madd Maxx. I don't really see anything at the moment that I could or would do to improve it!

Congrats Art! Glad you finally got it - does kind of get your attention doesn't it? Not like Smith, Carson & Obenauf but does have a certain "savoir de faire" - wait till you use it - Darrel has really put a nice edge on it. One nice thing about Darrel's knives is he really likes it when you use them - they are impressive but designed to be used hard - and if you beat it up you can send it back for a very modest fee have it refurbished to new condition so you can do it all over again. 30V blade should hold up to some serious use - have not used mine really hard yet but has easily undertaken all the light to moderate cutting chores have put it to. Enjoy & let us know what you think after some use.

penguinva - You know, you're right. Pictures just don't do that knife justice, so send the knife to me so that I might be able to fully appreciate the mastery of DDR's craftsmanship of this piece. Justice of the piece, we could call it. I'll keep it for a few days, give it tlc, and then send it back. Trust me on this. :D
