DDR Gunhammer on Geese

I have been edcing my LTC gunhammer and finally got a digital camera to take some pics of me using it. I debrested 2 geese the other night with it(I like the whole goose but my g/f only likes to prepare the breasts). So I have some pictures. The knife is incredible easily gliding through the skin and musle. and the slight hook in the blade almost acts as a guthook. After doing the two geese it was still shaving sharp.

You would think the blood and meat would be hard to get out of the holes in the blade but it wasnt hard. I used the knife to gut a deer with and the blood got down into the ball bearings the blade rides on. You'd think that it would cause a problem. But I cleaned it out with warm water. Then let it dry, then used compressed air and dropped some miltec down in there. Wiped the knife down with wd-40 and she's good as new. Boy those ball bearings are smooth as all get-out. Like butta with that miltec. I wasnt sure if the mods would let me post these pics cuz i know some people arent into hunting an the like so if it is innapropriate or disgusts people sorry its not ment to offend, just to show that even though a knife maybe expensive and custom made it can still be used and heavily and still perform greatly.

I will agree the Gunhammer is the best folder out there right now. I cherish mine and use it like I stole it.

I am being tempted to buy a Gunhammer. And I would like to hear your opinion of the blade on your knife. It looks quite different from what I am used to and wonder if it is more or less useful than the EDC shape which is also offered.

Wow I can't believe you used that great looking knife on those geese. Right now there are about 50 geese outside my window. I feel like getting out my shotgun.

The MT is a great blade. I have the same one as Barrabas74 without the little holes though. The curve in the blade lends to some awesome slicing power and it gets super sharp. The tip is thick and takes a great edge too. I am glad I got it over the EDC X or and other variant. Hey Larry, Darrel told both JP (Barrabas) and I to use the knives hard instead of making safe queens out of them. Both of us have shown these Gunhammer's no mercy and they keep coming back for more. I know that JP sent his to DDR to be resharpened, due to getting it too dull and not being able to get the perfect edge on it, and DDR told him that he would re-polish the blade and give it a tune up (it doesn't need it though). That is the best customer service. I could never set mine down when I need a hard use knife. I have owned tough knives from the big dogs like MT, CRK, Strider and a few other custom makers, but none of them are as good as this knife. BTW, pay the extra for the ROBO opening feature. It is great.

I have a few of Darrel's knives and one on order. He is a great knife maker and his customer service is second to none. By the way the gun hammer is an awesome knife especially with the robo power, but you already know that.

Yeah like USAFSP said we got the green light to use use use. And darrel's taken good care of us and i Know of other owners of his knives who say the same thing. It feels good to be able to use a knife like that an not worry about it, dont get me wrong I dont torture it. However I use it for everyday stuff and that inlcudes debresting geese, field dressing, quartering out and cutting up deer and other small woodland creatures. Just like USAFSP I have owned and used alot of semi-customs and customs but I have liked non better than the GH.

Guyfalks: I really like that blade shape, the front of it I use alot like you would the edc blade and it is slightly thicker I think for more heavy use. My fav thing about it is that point where the convex and concave parts meet(not the edge or blade grind but how it bellies in and then swoops out). Its very usefull almost like a second tip and you hook that onto things like boxes, or zip ties or other stuff and it just rips through em. I find that blade shape really useful, I cant say more usefull than the EDC would be because its all about what you do with your knives, this shape just happens to fit alot of my needs. I think either way you go you'll be very pleased with it.
