I stopped by Darrel's shop today. I have been watching this one evolve.
It is a double action leaf spring stiletto. It is still in prototype. So, I was being a pest and talked Darrel in to letting me post this even though it is in a very rough state of development. Darrel is working on a coil release version. It will still be a double action.

What do you think?

Not something that appeals to me but it looks well made.
But, there are some knives Darrel makes that I really like.

His designs are very diverse. This one is on a journey to it's final state, whatever that may be! ;)

I'll have to wait to see the final version, because I'm not liking what I see at this point. The blade is classic, but to me the handle looks blocky and unattractive.

What kind of lock does it have. Is it like a center mounted button lock?

The wood inlays are a bit chunky, but I've seen that on other knives and the feature can enhance grip.

The mount on the bolster is the auto release, it slides up. Lock up: I would imagine the leaf spring engages the blade and holds it in place. I have only dismantled coil spring autos, so I have not seen exactly how the leaf spring works. When opened manual, a detante holds the blade closed.

The scales may or may not end up being bulky. It's early in the process. Darrel could do just about anything. :)
