I wanted to de-assist my Benchmade 665 APB, but I came to a standstill with the project because I wasn't sure what to do after removing the proprietary spanner-nut on the pivot. I thought the right side of the frame would come off once this nut was removed, however it didn't, so I re-assembled the knife and left it assisted (for the time being) because I didn't want to mess it up. Has anybody else here de-assisted their 665?

Thanx

I basically found my answer here...

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1034314-Removing-the-Axis-Assist-on-an-Emissary

The pivot style is the same on the 470 Emissary.

So after some fiddling, I found that the left side scale was slightly stuck due to the close fit around the lock push button. Once I was able to access the left side of the knife (and do some major fiddling to get the spring out!), I reinstalled the spanner-nut making sure that the spring cage was aligned where it originally was, (If you don't align it correctly, the knife will not work properly at all!) and re-assembled the knife.

In my opinion, it's a much better knife now that it's de-assisted.

Cheers!
