De-Assisting Kershaws?

Some can, some can't. Example: the Zing SS has a detent, therefore the assist can b removed. However, the cryo has no detent, or rather the assist is the detent, so it cannot be removed as the knife will not stay closed.

Hope that helps,
dan

The deassisting process is very easy, you just remove the pivot and scale screws, take the scale off and remove the torsion bar. Contrary to what many say, there is no "spring assist" in a Speedsafe Kershaw. As was mentioned above, some models can and some can't be deassisted. I recently did my Blur, which is a popular mod choice, and it took me under 5 minutes.

The key is whether or not there is a ball for the detent. If there is, it can be de-assisted and have a detent added by carefully drilling a shallow divot.

I do a lot of these.
