I have just discovered Enedino (spelling?) De Leon knives while surfing some knife sites.

Never handled one or seen them before but I really like what I see. I did a search here to see what I could find out about this brand and it seems that there may have been some fit and finish issues early on.

Does anyone here have recent experience with his knives? What are they like now.

I would appreciate any first hand feedback from those that own or at least have handed his knives.

Cheers

I own several of his knives, and consider them good values. A ton of knife for the money. I think his "fit" is fine, at least on the ones I own, but he doesn't finish the blade surface with hand rubbing to the degree that some collectors might be used to. I paid in the $250.00 to 350.00 range for mine, and usually got 100% of that back when I sold a few here and there. Most of his knives come with a leather sheath.. The models I currently own are a large bowie, sub-hilt, 2 fighters, and boot style dagger...

Thank you for your input.

I started another thread in the General forum in the hopes of getting more responses which have been forth coming. From what I can tell, he seems to have a good reputation and no real issues with F&F these days.

I think you'll be happy with his work if you pick one up. Pretty solid value. Here's the most recent
piece of his I bought. It's a double edge fighter, blade ATS 34 at about 10".. Some forum members
will not like his use of brass, but I think it looks great.. To each his own... Best, Rich

That one looks very nice.

What makes you say that some guys would not like the brass?

It's hard to say really, but a few materials, brass, nickel silver, certain types of bone, abalone, etc. are all out of favor here. Not 100% across the board, but a strong majority.. Brass and nickel silver were used much more extensively for guards, bolsters, and pommels in days past, no doubt. Perhaps it was because there were less options for makers to choose from, or it made economic sense to keep a knife in a certain price range. Don't know.. Those two metals do tarnish a bit and I believe, (not sure..), are somewhat softer so perhaps they are used less for good reason.. All I can you tell you is, I sometimes see fine work get the "It's nice BUT.." qualifier strictly because of certain materials. I have read posts by Les R. that say all of the above reduce resale value, he would know much more about that than I..

(I happen own a beautiful desk dagger by Bruce Bump MS where he used both G. bone and brass.. "oh, the horror..") :D Best, Rich
