Here's a GI Tanto in progress of transformation from a mall ninja's toy to a useable survival knife. Spent alot of time with a file reshaping the blade, alot of time with wet-dry buffing out the bevel from the corner of the tanto point, alot of time grinding off the guard and now have to spend alot of time waiting for krylon to cure :( When all is said and done I'll buff up the paint job with some wet and dry sandpaper to even out the texture and thickness, clean up the excess finish around the edge, strop her and then commence abusing in the field! Not bad for a 20 dollar investment and some elbow grease if I do say so myself.

That... actually looks like a knife I would buy! (as opposed to the original.) I second more pix.

completely finished product is a week out, unfortunately, it takes some time for that krylon to cure. Once she's good to go I'll post some glory shots and user photos.

I wonder how many hours of effort were required to turn a blade with a bit of flair into such a pedestrian and boring one? I think all you guys who seem so terrified of any knife that's not "practical" should take up a hobby more in keeping with your cautious personalities [ like maybe collecter plates? ] and leave the knife world to us "mall ninjas".

Oh, is there something wrong with preferring a knife that would be suitable for actual work? If your focus is flare, then there are entire companies out there willing to give it to you (like Frost Cutlery.)
