Dead Can Dance

I dont post here much..but I saw DCD in concert in MLPS a few years ago...they were great...almost puked from the stench of clove cigarettes though..:D

Damn fine music. A favorite of mine for years. Introduced to me by a memorable girlfriend. . Saw them in SF back in '90 or so. All different kinds of good people there. Lots of moods to their music. Great interpetations of old european stuff.   Lisa Gerrard:cool: She did the music to Gladiator as well:D

Wonderful. Startling imagery. There was one moment where the clouds crashed against the mountains like waves. Superb.

Soulful music. It is wondrous how the beat transposed so many cultures with ease. The dancers who were in line with arms over each others shouders was captivating.

I like Aboriginal dancers who appear to be enjoying the dance as opposed to just following a ritual.

The utilisation of the wide angle lense and the understanding of how best to film the semicircle of dancers with it showed some innovativeness. It added a depth which curved, advanced and receded.

Kicka$$ me son,as usual.

Thanks for posting that. I've been a fan since about '90. Never got the chance to see them, though.

If anyone is interested, that scene where the clouds are rolling into the mountain crater is Haleakala on Maui (10,023ft elev)---I'd know that view anywhere: hiked it alot and photographed it quite a bit too. Beautiful, spritual place.

It is where the demi-god Maui lassoed the sun to slow its path over the hawaiian islands to give them long sunny days.

Haleakala = house of the sun. Pic below..hopefully! first time using photobucket

Maui. That place can get in your blood real real quick. If you don't feel The Greater Forces while on that crater, well...
Fortunate man MauiRob. DCD & Maui is good by me:D .
Haleakala,Haleakala...

HD, greatly appreciate the introduction to this group. Love the music.

Absolutely. I had the same thought--if you can't feel it there....you're not going to find a place more sacred and spiritual feeling IMO. Its so quiet..no its more than that it digests all sound. Must be the porous lava. Spent 3 days in a cabin down in the crater. Birds in the crater walls wailed all night..spooky. can't remember what they were. God I miss that place..
