Well I'd decided to try a version the deafall that I'd seen Mors Kochanski do but I couldn't get it to work. I think I made it too large a scale thus requiring an excessive deadfall weight. My Catch stick was never under enough tension to cause it to flip over the cross bar and release the deadfall. If I'd added more deadfall weight I'm pretty sure my catch stick would have broken under the stress so eventually I called it a day !
I used spruce roots to attach my cross beam.
