This note was sent to myself, Terrill Hoffman, and Chuck Ward among others. I promised Joe Kertzman I would post it around as well. Especially important to the individuals who submit on their own.
Hello photographers,

First off, I hope your new year is shaping up nicely. If there are any knife
photographers who contribute to the Knives annual book who I've forgotten
here--I'm sure there are a few--and you know their email addresses, please
forward this to them if you feel comfortable doing that. Thank you.

I wanted to give you all a heads up. Since we started printing the Knives
book in color, it has taken longer at the printer, and we are even
considering shipping it overseas for printing at some point. Anyway, what
this means is the Knives book is headed for production early this year.

The annual letter is being sent to knifemakers on February 10th requesting
photos of their knives be sent to me no later than March 31st (rather than
May 1) for inclusion in Knives 2007. And we hope to back that up yet another
month next year. I thought it prudent that I forewarn you.

Thank you for your contributions to the book in previous years, and I hope
to edit the book and use your photos for years to come.

Sincerely,

Joe Kertzman, managing editor, BLADE Magazine
Editor, Knives 2007 joe.kertzman@fwpubs.com

See that you do!

Jim - Thanks - what are the requirements for submissions? i.e. Electronic media (CD, etc)? Print? Size? ?????????????

Prints are needed. 5x7" or larger. You may supplement the image with a hi-res CD, and Joe may wish to go straight to the file. But they like to spread the real photos around the table for a layout.

NO excuses, now....! ;)

If I can be of service to any of you guys, well, you knew that... :p

Jim, have you noticed any "timing" preference, meaning do fotos received close to deadline seem to get selected more often than "older" fotos?

Thanks Coop, I would have missed it for sure. Fred

:p

I am certain he chooses them based upon quality of photo, style, and relevance to the section. Timing would appear to be insignificant to these other criteria.
