Many of you guys may have seen this posted elsewhere, but if not, it deserves a close look. :)

Less knife than pistol, but that's OK to me and Bruce, and probably all of you.

  • .22 cal black powder muzzle-loader
  • Pre-ban elephant ivory
  • 1084/15N20 assisted-opening blade (Fast!)
  • Engraving/Scrimshaw: Jere Davidson
  • Case hardening, carbona bluing: Doug Turnbull

I did not capture the little removable plunger down at the bottom of the hilt. It's there. Bruce has also made a fitted case for the display. Maybe you can post that, Bruce?

The amount of work and complexity that goes into such a piece is staggering. Anyone should be able to appreciate this whether it appeals to you or not. I think this is simply in another league...

(The photo shoot was demanding. Not only was this a tough display, the lighting was very finicky. Did the best I could and we were both pleased.)

Thanks for looking.

This is an amazing piece and a great picture Coop. There seems to be some kind of smart mecanism in this gun...

Nothing short of jaw-dropping.

Stunning package!
I'm not a big fan of engraved and scrimshawed knives, but on this knife (or pistol ;)) they perfectly complete the package!

Thanks Guys. I do enjoy making these combos. Designing and making the mechanisms are very challenging. This one has my first spring assist opener and a lock back blade. The next one is going to have my first dual action blade. I cant decide on the lock yet. Any input is appreciated.

That's INCREDIBLE... but just how do you load/unload that slick little sucker? Any other pics... even if they're a bit raw?

I think the ABS needs another catagory for makers like Bruce. Mastersmith is an understatement.

Mark

Great picture Coop!!

Having handled this beaut prior to Bruce's finishing it, and having "fondled" Brutus just before he finished it last year (?), I agree with Mark: Bruce's work in cases like these cut'n'shoots is simply on another plane! The opening action on this little piece is amazing in it's fluidity, but it's something else when part of an overall package of such complexity...

Bruce, did you change the sights on this one? Or are they the same as the ones on at the OKCA show? And I take it you finally resolved the issues with the side plate? From the pics, it looks flawless now!

So... how does it shoot??? :D 'Cause I know it cuts!

Thanks again Guys for all the kind words.

Yes I finally just made a better rear sight and thumb stud also. The left side bolster warped from the color case hardening process even though it was fastened securely to flat stock. Live and learn but it didnt take much to flatten out the mating surface and luckily didnt involve relieving the cavity for the opener rod.

It shoots great!
