This recognition couldn't have been more deserving.
Affordably priced with the same stellar performance is the way to go.
Good job CS crew!

I have a question. Could some of you guys who have the new Pro-Lite (or any CS knife using 4116 German steel) tell me how this blade steel holds up to use. In the wake of this award, I'm considering picking one of these up. I'm particularly looking for feedback on the steel's performance compared to AUS8 as the main competition at this price point is CS's former folders and my Ontario RATs and ESEE Avispa and Zancudo.

congrats cold steel.

max,in my experience with it, and not scientific by any means...... easy to sharpen, doesn't hold an initial sharp or working edge as long as cold steel heat treated aus8, in my experience. initial sharp disappears fairly very quickly. working edge can last decently long enough..... depending on what you are cutting and how much of it. it can hold up with ontarios aus8 enough. i have a few of those ontarios and blue ridges and they are on par with each other for the most part. keep in mind this is a very relative thing.

all that said it's so easy to touch up i hasn't stopped me from carrying mine and using it or my other cold steel knives using that steel. it's a non issue really.

Generally speaking, the steel is crap (if you are not a knife noob). The knife is awesome in terms of ergonomics (trust me I had a lot of knives in 300+ price range, and ProLites beat most of them), but....I still pray for the upgraded version. CTS BD1 would be MUCH better in order to keep the street price low.

While im ok with the steel, i would gladly pay $10 more for BD1 steel.
BTW, it looks like the blade grind is also not as crisp & precise as other models, such as the finn wolf which is only a few bucks more.
Not sure about other people, but i own both the clip and the tanto point version, and it looks like the tanto blade is about 1-2mm shorter than the clip point blade. So IMO the consistency can be improved here...

But yes, i agree that the handle shape is very ergonomic and is neutral enough for a variety of grip. The overall size is also perfect, at around 7.8-8 inch range. I'm used to carrying around an Emerson CQC7 and this is almost identical in length, while being much lighter & slimmer.
