Dealers using the BF.com email system to solicit business for their websites?

Is this acceptable practice that I am just not aware of? I received a solicitation from a dealer and when I asked him if this was O.K., I got a rather terse reply. Just wondering if it is acceptable to use the forums as a customer e-mail list.

Please tell us who this member is and we will be sure to rectify the problem.

Edit: Please PM me with the dealers name. Do not post it on the open forum until the problem is resolved.

Have any of the other regulars on the Schrade Collector's forum been approached by a dealer? Was that a mass mailing?

You can't harvest email addresses from BF, so I think this dealer would have to be finding individuals that he is interested in advertising to, and then emailing them through the BF email forwarding system.

As a general practice, I would definitely frown upon dealers doing so.

However, just to be fair, there is always the possilbe exception wherein a dealer may become aware that a member is particularly interested in a given maker/make/model and is providing information to the member for their (the member's) benefit.

In any case, any attempted mass mailings to members should be strongly discouraged.
