We are updating and revamping the dealer information on our web site. What I get the most requests for and seems to be lacking the most are physical locations/stores where someone can walk in and put their hands on a knife. A lot of the smaller dealers don't buy from us but from a larger distributor so it is impossible for us to know about them unless someone tells us. If you know of a dealer who handles our knives and is not listed on our web site currently please let me know. Currently we have listed here: http://www.ratcutlery.com/onlinedealers.htm

Thanks, Mike

I'm going to point people to them the next time someone tells me my prices are too high!

International dealers have a huge handicap on pricing because of VAT taxes and shipping. There is really no way to get RAT Cutlery stocked in an overseas store and have a low price. Their strong point of course is that they actually have the knife where a person can walk in and handle it and talk to someone face to face. I cut them a lot of slack on the pricing thing considering what they have to do to import and have the knife there. So yes the internet dealers usually have best pricing but the trade off is not being able to walk in a store and pick up the knife and compare to many other knives at the same time. It is the buyer's preference. We support all the dealers in any way we can. The dealer listing on our web site is one of the best tools we have to send customers to for referencing where to buy. Keep the suggestions coming.

Even if it is a very small hardware store or drugstore with RAT Cutlery knives. We have a cool place in South Knoxville , TN near where I live that is very small but gets attention with a huge sign out front that says; "Vacuum Cleaners and Guns" . Diversified works I guess.:)

The Mrs. and I have been beating feet here in H-town trying to get some brick and mortar stores to carry RAT.

So far, Spring Guns and ammo and Specter Firearms have been pretty receptive.

If anyone happens to stop in either of those places, recommend that they carry the line. Enough bugs planted in ears and it might happen.

What about buying from the exchange ? Do the same taxes & fees apply if someone in Australia buys a used knife from the exchange ? That does suck, I wouldnt believe the cost if I didnt look at that website.

In the Netherlands there is a store in Rotterdam, 2sharp.
They are the one and only shop overhere where it's possible to get your hands on one of the knives.

In general I think that the company should put as much effort as possible into getting outdoor stores to carry the Rat Cutlery line, so this is a step in the right direction!

In general blades are a social taboo item in urban Australia, it would be technical illegal to EDC any form of knife be it a fixed blade or a folder, unless you can justify it's usage as part of your work, going camping etc. ie if you work in customs a lot of customs agents carry small folders. most outdoor stores here carry a limited range of knives and most Aussies are un-edge-ucated, for the most part to a lot of Australian knife buyers an $12 knock off of a well known production blade is as good as the real deal, for the purpose most of these people use it for it probably is (it cuts well enough and it's not going to face up to hard use) That's the crap that most camp supply stores stock these days. Here's an example of a well known Victorian outdoor supply store, can you spot the knockoffs?

Please remove this if it's not appropriate.

What makes it worse is the price on the real deal from a military surplus store or outdoors shop makes it it very unattractive too so it's a bit of lose lose situation for knife knuts and users of good blades here. Stores won't stock a good range because the market is limited due to present laws, so they stock low cost knock off imitation knives and basically a few better known pieces at crazy prices.

I'd love to be able to handle a knife before buying, especially folders, to test the lock up, blade play, ergonomics etc so if it could be done in Australia that would be great, but I think it would be very hard to accomplish given the present negative knife culture here. Buying online from overseas and relying on good forum boards to learn more about good blades is my best bet for acquiring quality that meets and exceeds my expectations, so yeah guys keep those pics and reviews coming!

2sharp are good folks. I understand how laws in Australia are affecting knife sales. I have heard this before. I wish you guys luck dealing with the negative laws on knives and guns.

There are a lot of small outdoor/hardware stores here in the U.S. that carry our knives and order from Blue Ridge or another distributor and I would like to list them but I just don't know where they are. Keep it coming guys. Mike

Canfields is an awesome place -- do they still have the "scratch and dent" clearance tents on the upper floor?

I'll also have to check out Mickey's & Odessey when I'm in KC on the 19th for the woodworking tool show.

In Utah...

Blade HQ is 98% web based, but they do have a store front in Lehi, UT.

http://www.bladehq.com/cat--RAT-Cutlery-Fixed--275

Their hours are M-F 10-5, so if you work "office hours" you'll have to take a day off or leave early (like I have ;)) to walk in... but they DO sell RAT Cutlery and I have personally had my hands on them.

Great business with great prices... if only they were open Saturdays! :(

Not taking anything from anyone or area in the country, but if you only love living in the south for one reason, and one reason alone, it's because of the above statement. There's nothing like going going to a hardware store and picking up some sheet rock screws, a 12 guage, and a pickled egg at the same time. I would think that this is where Mr. Walton got his idea from. :D

I was going to say that the only place that I know of locally (Atlanta area) that sells RAT Cutlery products was Brigade Quartermaster, but there brick and mortar store has been closed in Kennesaw. :(

one of the small towns "near" me has an Ace Harware that meets that description, too.

I've got good experiences with this store.
The people are very friendly and the prices of the ESEE knives are now better than before.

When a small store starts to carry your product what is the amount of product they have to carry to become a distributor. I would like to talk to a couple of local stores, one already carries alot of knives and I know the owners but I know this will be one of the questions asked. A PM would also work on the quantity. I am going to take a couple of mine up to them to check out and urge them to carry these.
