Dealing with abrasive members

So whats the best way to deal with abrasive BF members?

I understand the whole "dont feed the trolls" philosophy. but how do you deal with someone that is not quite a troll (yet)?

You know the types that post in threads just to put people down, and refuses to be dissagreed with. i dont want to just not reply and let them disrespect friends and associates of mine, and let others think that he might be right about what he is saying.

And finally he went and emailed me what more or less equated to a nearly Polite F-U.

I am sure that we are all guilty of rubbing someone the wrong way, but at least 99% of us dont go out of our way to make people angry.

The nifty thing about this software is that there's a little feature called "ignore". You can put anyone other than a moderator or admin on your "ignore" list. Convenient way to handle life's little irritations.
