dealing with nasty smell?

Got my King of Shaves Kinexium shave oil. It performs almost exactly as Rick in KY mentioned, with one exception. The smell is nauseating to me and does not seem to fade.

I really don't like scented products, but even after a thorough rinsing of face and beard, scrubbing my hands, and using Nivea aftershave balm (mildly scented but tolerable), I still smelled like whatever in hell the Kinexium is supposed to smell like for most of the day.

Any suggestions?

You could always try adding an essential oil to the shave oil. I would suggest some peppermint, lavender, or patchouli.

I'm thinking that adding to it won't make it better for you, some people are more sensitive to certain smells, and if you can smell it all day, I don't think that much will change that. that said, I have no experience with the product you mentioned.

I'm not a fan of shave oils, but you could try other products. Art of shaving makes a line of fine smelling oils as does Truefitt & Hill. There are others as well. Find what you like.

I had a bottle of unscented One Planet shaving oil; it really had no detectable smell at all. The local store doesn't have it any more but I expect you can get it on the net.

Thanks again, but I gave up and went back to Shave Secret. Not as good a shave, but the clove/menthol smell of SS dies after a wipe with a towel.

Sorry it didn't work out for you, average gimp. :o

I still use it pretty frequently. Works great, but if the smell (which I am also not a fan of) is too unpleasant for you, it doesn't much matter how well it works. For me, the smell fades pretty quickly and after using aftershave is gone entirely. At least it didn't cost you much...

I'm reminded of a childhood saying: If you can get past the smell, you've got 'er licked. ;)
