That's a chubby mini-bowie, but I love the lines on it. I'm getting expensive dental work done at the end of the month, I would be all over it.

Note to anybody interested in the mini AK Bowie. I just received mine in 10" and 12" today:D

These are simply awesome to hold in person. The mini AK Bowie will be a very useful carry option when hiking or camping.

Woohoo! My first HI Khukri! Moving this weekend to new house on 4 acres, butted up to a few hundred acres of forest. When does Khukri deer season begin in North Carolina? ;)

Which do u prefer the 10 or the 12 for the mini ak?

I prefer the 12" because that is what I originally requested. It fits my intended usage and fits nice in my hand. The blade to handle ratio looks good too. The blade is 6.75" long which is a good working size for me.

The 10" was a surprise but I grabbed it because somehow the stubby look appealed to me. This one has a 5.125" blade that is still a usefull size for me when camping. That said I still prefer the 12" but both will see good use as I expect that the smaller one will feel better in some circumstances when I want a shorter beefy blade. Both have 1/4" spines and are definitely bulletproof mountain man knves. Both will certainly draw compliments from others despite the fancy customs that they may carry.

I say get both. That makes a complete set for me in original 15", 12" and 10". Just too nice to pick one over the other.

Thanks for your impressions, rfguy:)

I'm back and forth on which one I would go with (if I had to choose). On one hand, the 12" version certainly "looks" right to my eye. However, having the stubbier blade with a slightly longer handle of the 10" version could really be appealing. Sometimes having more purchase and grip options is better than having more blade.

Also, if any of you newer guys want to have a laugh at the poor ol' AK bowie's expense, search the archives for the Stubby AK Bowie. Classic "oopsie" between what a customer ordered and what was translated to the kamis. The customer basically wanted the AK bowie stretched out. A little more handle and a lot more blade. Instead, the kamis stretched out the handle and didn't do much with the blade at all:D It was a great visual aid for what Uncle Bill had to deal with. That said, it got snapped up by the sharks pretty quick nonetheless. I wanted to buy it, but it was spoken for by the time I fired off an email:D I'm sure it made a dandy tree de-limber/zombie lopper.

I think these new mini AKBs are fantastic. While I am totally unabashedly in love with the standard 15 version, my needs in a hiking blade have changed over the last decade. A good khuk at camp and a more compact and lighter blade on my belt are what I desire. A 10-12" AKB coming in at about an ounce and inch would be a really nice beefy without being overweight knife for a couple mile hike. Keep in mind, I'm a daddy now. A couple miles consists of about 150-200 meters of holding my daughter's hand. The rest is me packing her 40# body on my shoulders. I need a lighter knife:p

I wonder what an AK Bowie would look like scaled down to 7" with a 4" handle and 3" blade... That could displace my Izula II.
