Anyone looking for light weight ASTK then here it is

I can't say enough good things about the Tirtha Bowie:) It's been a constant companion of mine over the last year. Tirtha knocked it WAY out of the park with this one.

I really like how Lachhu introduced a belly into the Giant Chit Bowie. It makes a little more "utility".

Also on the Tirtha Bowie, is there a brass liner in between the horn scale and tang?

I agree the overall design is a favorite. I've seen pictures of yours and in comparison to mine it is a perfect specimen. Mine took some touch up work on one side of the wooden grip and at the edge of the start of the blade I filed down because cosmetically it was uneven. I think I need a bit more steel to keep my finger in place if I were to use the bowie as a stabber. But as a chopper I'm sure my fingers won't slip. The others I've seen pictures of have much more edge to act as a guard including the one above. I haven't done any chopping with it yet.. I noticed a thin layer of soft steel along the the length of the sharp edge of the blade. I tried to use a chakmak to straighten it out and it would just flop to the other side from the pressure. I'll eventually get back to seeing what I can do about the edge and possibly do something about a guard. I hope with the edge it's not a heat treat issue where the steel is too soft.

Despite it's flaws, I keep it tucked snug into the side of my mattress and bed post. I still love the design and the feel and weight when in my hand. The angle of the grip just feels right. I could choose any other HI I own to keep next to me while I sleep but this one for some internal reason stays within arms reach.

It sure is:) When mine arrived, I had no idea that it would sport such a nice touch. I know it sounds weird but with the blade shape and the type of wood used on mine, it really reminds me of a mutated Buck 110 folder:D The hard angle of the pommel even kinda looks like the shoulder of the blade where lock engages:eek:

It's not as noticeable on this version shown as mine has a more defined clip and a harder edge to the pommel. Still, the brass is a very nice touch:)
